Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist
Position Description:
The EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Specialist is responsible for support of the development of management systems to ensure EHS regulatory compliance, and EHS programs. Effectively administer EHS management practices according to EHS Standards. Multiple project locations.
Position responsibilities:
- Conduct Safety Orientation for New Employees
- Conduct weekly Tool Box topics-Monday Mornings
- Review plan of the day w/ Subs.
- Review all subcontractor JSTA’s for thoroughness/ Update as Task/Conditions Change
- Conduct daily safety Inspection
- Conduct Eqt. Safety Checklists
- Ensure all work permits are in order/Obtained as required
- Enforce & regulate Jobsite Safety Rules/Procedures-Report Infractions/Issues to Supt & PM
- Attend Wednesday Progress Meeting/Provide Safety Update
- Work w/ Duke Energy EHS
- Adhere to the Duke Energy Safe Work Practices Manual
- Update/Track SDS onsite
- OSHA 30 (Client will provide if necessary)
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or other related field
- 2-5 years of experience in safety and health related functions, preferably in general industry or construction. Nuclear experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State safety and health regulations
- Responsible for analyzing and determining the applicability of EHS regulations and ensuring that corrective action programs are implemented by interfacing with Plant Managers, Plant Supervisors, Process/Plant Engineers, Regional EHS Manager, and other personnel as necessary.
- Solid writing skills
- Strong Computer skills, Microsoft office (Excel, Word and Outlook) required.
